Where in the world is...

Connecting our history to our present is an important task. While we may not be able to travel to the past to meet our ancestors or see what their world looked like then, we can become aware of where that history took place and develop one more connection to them.   These resources are meant to help develop the story of where we came from.  Where in the world did we come from? Where did our family go and what was that story?

The links on this page contained maps, photos and geographical connections to our past. Family members are encouraged to submit their own stories and/or geographical connections.

Henry Hillard Martin lived in Pike County, Alabama before moving to Texas.  We do not know where he lived in Alabama other than that.

Google Earth is a free downloadable application used for mapping the Earth. (Download at earth.google.com) If you have Google Earth installed, you should be able to download and open this kmz file. This is my first attempt at recording some of my daddy's stories about the old El Campo homestead.

The map below is an online version.  Zoom in and click on the icons for more information about that location.
(Recent change in The Google allows for KML maps to be created using Google Maps online. To create your own, read this.)
